Trust encourages everyone to ‘Be Happy, Be Healthy’

FUN_DAY_CN_23Everyone had a great day on Saturday 11th October at our 'Be Happy, Be Healthy' event to celebrate World Mental Health Day. The day also launched our new, free mobile app, WellMind.

Local people of all ages attended the event, which was held in Priory Park, Dudley. They played games, tried out new activities, watched a short film in our TIme to Change chinema, took advantage of free health checks, enjoyed massages, Reiki and reflexology, and much more.

Our Chair, Danielle Oum, kicked off the event by talking about World Mental Health Day and the importance of looking after your mental health. "We want to raise awareness of how being happy and feeling good is an important part of being healthy. By looking after your mental health, you can help your physical health.

"Every year, around one in four people will suffer with some sort of mental health problem, yet we are still not very good at talking about it. Today, we want you to talk about it."

We were delighted to be joined by the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Margaret Aston, who thanked Tracy Cross and her team for organising the event, and said: "One of the most rewarding things about being the Mayor of Dudley is sharing in events which highlight important issues within our communities. This event is a great example of this, as it aims to raise awareness of mental health and the fact that it is just as important as your physical health."

The Mayor of Dudley continued: "We are proud to support the Trust and their very important role within our community, helping hundrerds of people across Dudley and Walsall recover from a wide range of mental health problems every year. On behalf of Dudley Council and the Dudley Borough, I applaud your imagination, dedication and commitment."
