Therapy and Liaison Community Service

Our Therapy and Liaison Community Service (TALCS) provides therapeutic support for people aged 65 and over in secondary mental health services. The service also provides post diagnostic therapeutic interventions for memory assessment service clients.

The service works with people for 8-10 weeks providing therapeutic interventions on a group and/or one-to-one basis. Following assessment, treatment will be tailored to individual needs and might include:

  • Anxiety management
  • Compassion-focused strategies
  • Supported discharge following acute episodes
  • Cognitive stimulation therapy
  • Signposting to relevant organisations and enabling access to these through recovery interventions
  • Graded exposure
  • Relaxation therapy
  • Art therapy and meaningful activity

Referrals are accepted from Walsall ECMHTOA, medical professionals and the Memory Assessment service

TALCS also work closely with the voluntary sector, local charities and care providers to provide support for people to remain within familiar environments with mental health needs and reduce stigma and access to therapy within the locality.
