Primary Mental Health (Walsall)

What is this service?

We are a group of mental health nurses employed to help GPs and other members of the primary care team – health visitors, midwives and practice nurses – to manage mild to moderate mental health needs. We do not offer urgent or crisis care. This is provided by secondary care mental health services e.g. Psychiatrists, community psychiatric nurses (CPN’s).

We see people aged 17 and over who are registered with a Walsall GP.

We offer a 20-40 minute first assessment appointment to find out what your needs are. We also can suggest other services that have specialist understanding around your needs e.g. bereavement counselling.

How can I access the service?

Self-refer by calling us on 0800 953 0995.

Where is the service provided?

Your first appointment will be provided at your GP surgery or at a health centre close to where you live. We can also offer appointment by telephone. Please request this when booking your appointment.

Did you know that 1 in 5 of our appointments are not attended, which results in longer waiting times for you to be seen.
