Community Events to Celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week and Equality and Diversity Week – 08/05/13

Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust celebrates Mental Health Awareness Week and Equality and Diversity Week next week (13-17 May).

Throughout the week, the Trust’s team of Community Development Workers will be hosting a series of free events, workshops and activities for service users and families, staff and the local community:

  • 10am – 5pm on Monday 13 May at Stone Street Square, Dudley town centre, there will be information stands, fun competitions, live performances by a local choir and a chance to have head and hand massages and henna
  • 12 – 3pm Tuesday 14 May at Clee ward, Bushey Fields Hospital for staff, patients and their carers
  • 6 – 8.30pm Tuesday 14 May come along to Russell’s Hall Youth Club, Overfield Road, where there will be information stands, henna, drama around mental health and equality and diversity and arts and crafts
  • 6 – 8.30pm on Wednesday 15 May the same event will be held at Lower Gornal Youth Club, Dudley. Children with disabilities and their parents/ carers or friends are welcome
  • 12 – 3pm on Wednesday 15 May Bloxwich Hospital will be holding an Equality and Diversity engagement session for staff and service users
  • 10am-2pm on Thursday 16 May there will be an art workshop looking at mental health and equality and diversity at Shree Krishna Temple, Dudley
  • 9am – 3pm on Friday 17 May there will be an information stand, competitions and quizzes and henna at the Saddlers Centre, Walsall (outside Argos)

Paul Singh, The Trust’s Equality and Diversity Lead, said “We are celebrating two special events next week, which is a great opportunity to showcase the work that the Trust is doing to raise awareness of mental health and to reduce the stigma associated with it.”

“Equally, we are committed to meeting the diverse needs of our local population and raising awareness of Equality and Diversity. I hope you’ll join in the weeks celebrations and activities.”
