Freedom to Speak Up case study

A message from Michael Hirons – Freedom to Speak Up Guardian

As your Freedom to Speak Up Guardian I know it can be difficult to Speak Up and all too easy for me to say not to worry and that we’ll take your concerns seriously.

I also know that many of you have reservations about how your concerns will be received and if it’ll make any difference. So we wanted to share with you an anonymised case featuring our staff which tells their story, using their own words, spoken by others to protect their confidentiality.

Speaking Up about patient safety concerns, or bullying cultures, will never be stress free but it is the right thing to do, for you, for your colleagues and our patients and we want to be the type of Trust where you feel you can Speak Up, so please listen to their story.
