Feelgood Choir

Four years ago, Dudley Mind set up the ‘Feelgood Choir’ to help improve mental health and wellbeing. However, they are no longer able to fund the group that, with fundraising, will continue to run. The choir is open to all, with no auditions. Songs are learnt by listening to the choir master, Martin, and singing the words back to him. Songs are always uplifting and inspirational and include a variety of material, motown, easy listening, gospel and more.

There is a growing body of evidence that singing as part of a group can have a range of health benefits. Being part of a cohesive group, adds to the experience of making music, boosts mental health, and yields high levels of psychological wellbeing. People who sing in a choir have a strong sense of being part of a meaningful group. Working together to achieve a goal gives everyone a real sense of belonging.

The group meet at Dove House in the Bushey Fields Hospital grounds from 6:15pm – 7:45pm every Wednesday. Everyone is welcome, whether it’s people with or without mental or physical health issues, or people feeling the stresses of life and wanting to gain the feel good factor. The group particulalrly need male singers.

Members are asked to pay £3 a week to help towards costs. For any further information please contact Jan Wood on 01384 292059.
