Equality Delivery System (EDS)

The EDS was refreshed in November 2013 and has been developed to be more streamlined and simpler to use compared with the original EDS.

EDS2 will support the Trust to respond to the public sector Equality Duty (PSED). It will assist to meet the general duty to eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation; advance equality of opportunity; and foster good relations. Its use can also help the Trust to meet the specific duties of the PSED.

The EDS2 requires the Trust in collaboration with local interests to analyse and grade their performance, and set defined equality objectives, supported by an action plan.  Performance against the selected objectives will be annually reviewed and these processes will be integrated within mainstream business planning.  By focussing efforts and making better informed changes to service delivery the Trust can improve both cost effectiveness and quality.

EDS2 is applied to people whose characteristics are protected by the Equality Act 2010. These include: Age, Disability, Gender re-assignment, Marriage and civil partnership, Pregnancy and maternity, Race (including nationality and ethnic origin), Religion or belief, Sex and Sexual orientation
