Dignity in mental health – profiling our Dignity Champions

The theme for this year’s World Mental Health Day (10th October) is dignity in mental health. As a Trust, our Dignity Champions play an important role is raising the profile of the dignity agenda amongst staff, patients and carers.

All of our champions have signed up to the 10 Dignity Do’s, a list of actions and attitudes that ensure we respect people's dignity. This is an important area of focus for our champions, who aim to live and breathe these values in their work.

Over the years they have held many events to raise the profile of dignity in care. Below are just a few examples:

In 2009, our Dignity Champions met with Sir Michael Parkinson, who is an ambassador for the network.

Over the years our Dignity Champions have done an excellent job in raising the profile of the dignity in care agenda, and even won a Recognising Success Staff Award in 2010 for their efforts.

To mark Dignity Action Day 2015, our Dignity Champions organised a 1940’s themed tea party. The event was an opportunity for residents at Bloxwich Hospital and carers to reminisce and celebrate together.
