Apprentice shortlisted for top award

One of Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust’s former apprentices, Kirsty Hadley, has been shortlisted for a regional apprenticeship award.

Kirsty has been shortlisted in the non-clinical, Apprentice of Year category at the Health Education West Midlands, NHS Apprenticeship Recognition Awards 2016.

During her time as Business Administration Apprentice, Kirsty worked in our Estates and Facilities department supporting the helpdesk and wider team. Since completing her course she continues to work for the Trust through our temporary staffing service.

Feedback from colleagues has been overwhelmingly positive with her mentor, Karen Wallace commenting: “Kirsty has developed into a confident, competent and extremely knowledgeable colleague. I truly believe that she will succeed in everything she sets out to achieve and will become an integral part of the future of the NHS.”

Throughout her time here, Kirsty has embraced her role and has been so inspired that she has decided to embark on a career in mental health nursing and will be starting her degree course in the New Year.

Kirsty commented: “To be recognised like this is very overwhelming, I’m thrilled. Working with Dudley and Walsall Mental Health Trust is something that I enjoy so much, both the administration and clinical side. Without the support of everyone in my team and the wider Trust I wouldn’t have got where I am today. I can’t thank the Trust enough for helping me pursue my career choice.”

The awards ceremony takes place on 5 February 2016 at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.
