AMSPAR award celebrations

On Thursday 19th March 2015, we celebrated the hard work of our AMSPAR (Association of Medical Secretaries, IMG_0410Practice Managers, Administrators & Receptionists) delegates with an exclusive award ceremony presentation here at the Trust HQ in Dudley.

The AMSPAR Level 2 Award in Medical Terminology commenced on 8th May 2014 for a total of twenty four weeks, with delegates meeting every Thursday morning, with an additional two hours or more of home study per week. The aim of the course was to provide learners, who had no previous knowledge of medical terminology with a thorough grounding in the correct construction, recognition and usage of a range of medical terminology. Fourteen members of staff in total took part in the course, eight of whom received distinctions for their hard work and contributions.

Positive feedback was received all round from those who took part, including comments such as: “I found the course very interesting & it has greatly helped in my greater understanding in my role as a Secretary at a GP Medical Practice”. Others made reference to the course facilitator, Anna Parsons, a well-respected AMSPAR Tutor here at the Trust, who has been delivering these courses for a number of years. “I found the course very interesting & could not ask for a better tutor!  I have really enjoyed the course & would recommend it to anyone thinking about it”.

The ceremony offered the chance for those involved to come together for one last time before they went their separate ways, and to also reflect on their successes. We would like to offer our congratulations to all those involved and the very best of luck for the future.
